On a recent assignment the company was looking at expanding a sugar factory throughput and therefore required more cane to crush. The cost of developing out growers and having to buy cane for crushing was more expensive than developing their own land. Budgets and quotes were drawn up for this exercise and once the decision was made, the project had to be implemented and as the photos at the top of this page, show the various stages of a 500 ha development. A contractor was used for the initial land clearing with D9's and ships anchor chains. This was monitored for performance and quality of work and once accepted, in house operations took the land through to planting. The job was completed on time and under budget.

This job involved

• Scheduling of operations to ensure optimum fleet utilisation.
